With Hubfleet's training register you can:
- Define every training type your operation needs
- Group training types under roles
- Assign roles to drivers and management team members and see what's missing or expired
- Record completions against each requirement
- Attach certificates and set expiry dates on each completion record
- Filter live training status across your fleet

The training register is the competency layer of your SMS — it links drivers, roles and the risk controls in the Risk Controls Library. Each control can be connected to the training types required to execute it. Each role bundles the training types relevant to a function in your operation. When you assign a role to a person, Hubfleet automatically tracks every required training type and shows you what's complete, what's outstanding, and what's expired. This is Step 2 B of your Safety Management System (Preview) setup — complete it once your Risk Controls Library (Step 2 A) is in place.
How training fits into the SMS
Training sits on the preventive side of the bow-tie, alongside policies and procedures. The chain is:
- Risk controls require training types
- Roles bundle training types
- People (drivers and management team members) inherit training requirements from the roles they hold
This means:
- A driver assigned the Heavy Vehicle Operator role automatically requires every training type linked to that role
- Linking a new training type to a control automatically extends the requirements for every role that uses that control
- Removing a role from a person cleanly removes the requirement — historical completion records stay on their record

ℹ️
Where things live in Hubfleet: training types and roles are configured under General Config. Completions, the training register and the Training Needs table all live under Safety → Training. Risk control linking lives under Safety → Risk Controls.
